What's in the Box?

The contents of our boxes might vary slightly, depending on what’s available, the season and feedback from recipents.

But the below list should give you an idea!

These self heating eyemasks have an uplifting grapefruit scent, can help aid relaxation and block out hospital lighting!

You can use this special notebook to keep a diary, keep notes on your transplant, draw pictures, write your first novel, or whatever you choose.

Chemo and hospital air can be hard on your skin.
CeraVe is suitable for sensitive skin.

A soothing balm that can be used on lips, skin and hair.
Think luxurious petroleum jelly. An essential.

Caffeine free calming tea bags. A combination of citrus and flowers with powerful valerian.

Gourmet vegan sweets for grown ups.

Perfect if you don’t have much appetite, are suffering from nausea and your taste is affected.

Make water taste better. A random flavour will be in your box.

Turns toilet paper into a flushable wet wipe. Pop it in the bathroom for some of chemos less pleasant side effects.

An essential for the immunocompromised.

70% alcohol kills 99.9% of bacteria, containing a purifying blend of niaouli, lemongrass and witch hazel essential oils

PH balanced for dry and sensitive skin. Wet wipes are always handy to freshen up with minimal effort.

 

A sore mouth is a common side effect, and a soft toothbrush can help avoid irritating it further.

Meditation & Mindfulness

Calm App

Calm provides a number of free meditation resources on their website. You can also download their app for free, and they normally offer a 14 day free trial of premium. We love their sleep stories read by names like Cillian Murphy and Stephen Fry!

Headspace App

The Headspace website also provides a number of free meditation and sleep resources They offer a free app that has limited meditation resources available, and a 14 day free trial of premium with full app access is available.

InsightTimer

InsightTimer is a completely free app that provides meditation and sleep resources. Some may find it more on the "hippy" side, but its resources are excellent and there is no need for a trial.

Spotify

Most people know spotify for music, but if you search for meditation, sleep or yoga nidra, you will find a whole range of podcasts available to help you relax. We also love a good spa sounds playlist. If you don't have premium you might have to put up with the occasional ad, which can be a pain, but you can sign up and cancel at any time.

We’re sure you’ve heard of the big charities like Cancer Research, Blood Cancer UK and Macmillan, but here we hope to share a few smaller charities that have helped us on our journey.

Shine Cancer Support

Shine offers support for people with cancer and their families in their 20s, 30s and 40s. They run small online groups that I found hugely helpful, as well as in person get togethers locally and nationally

Gamers Beat Cancer

Gamers Beat Cancer is a small charity that offers free consoles and games to families and patients to help manage the mental health aspects of a diagnosis.

Look Good Feel Better

Look Good Feel Better offer support with the physical effects of cancer treatment offering services for women, men and young adults. They run excellent make up workshops with a great goodie bag of treats!

Move Against Cancer

Move Against Cancer offer support to get active after a cancer diagnosis because it comes with HUGE benefits. They offer a free online program for those aged 18-30, free online sessions, and a monthly 5K Your Way with ParkrunUK
